Hualālai is an active volcano on the island of Hawaii, in the Hawaiian Islands. It is the westernmost, the third youngest and the third most active of the five volcanoes that form the island of Hawaii, after Kilauea and the much larger Mauna Loa. Its peak is located at 8, 271 feet above sea level. From Hawaiian Hualālai, from ka (“el) + hua (“fruit, seed) + a variant of laʻi (“calm”), the name of one of the craters of the volcano.
